Short Description: |
To achieve the climate goals defined in “The European Green Deal” of the EU, both the energy transition towards renewable energy sources and a mobility transition towards battery electric vehicles (BEV) and advanced mobility concepts offering alternative solutions to individual vehicles are required. Carsharing organisations have the potential to bridge energy and mobility transition. Yet, the infrastructure for bidirectional charging supporting this functionality and (adapted/new) business models are required that combine the two different realms. The project cleanBEVsharing (Integration of battery electric vehicle sharing platforms with clean charging and renewable energy sources) on the one hand provides carsharing organisations the opportunity to participate in the liberalised energy market, when moving from fossil fuelled to battery electric vehicles (BEV) and on the other hand enables communities and inhabitants to better use the potential of affordable and sustainable BEV (car) sharing. The core goal of the project is to design and implement a flexible carsharing model with variable renting rates and storage capacity marketing. This will enable the vision that shared BEVs are solely charged with clean renewable energy, deliver dis-/charging flexibility for the grid stabilisation and always provide the necessary state of charge (SoC) when the customers need it. The platform solution developed in the project will provide an integrated systemic solution combining vehicles, charging infrastructure and energy grid, matching the different requirements. The combination of charging infrastructure and information from booking platforms enables cross-sector integration with the energy market and local renewable energy sources in a user centric way. Including vehicle to grid (V2G) usage of parked electric cars in the business models of carsharing companies increases the economic fitness of BEV sharing especially in rural areas and is offering affordable mobility on demand. The project pursued the following three innovations, which are also demonstrated at different test sites: 1. Integration of proactive energy management considering BEV usage information 2. Coordinated provisioning of energy to the grid 3. Dynamic pricing for carsharing customers and effects of flexibility usage The results of the project are V2G mechanisms, incentive systems and a platform solution to match the users’ mobility demand and the BEV charging flexibility potential for ancillary electricity grid services. It will contribute to affordable mobility (due to reduced fares for users), economic success (due to additional income for operators), environmental protection (due to reduced CO2 and saved resources) and social benefits for rural areas (due to additional mobility offers and inclusiveness). | |||
